INSIDE THE Hobonichi office in Tokyo, Japan
Let’s take a peek
I’m so incredibly excited to give you all a peek into the wonderful world of the Hobonichi Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. If you don’t know already, I currently work as a Social Media Manager for Hobonichi’s international social media team and during my Tokyo trip in October I visited and worked at the headquarters where of course, I took some photos and videos along the way to share with you all!!
It was a truly unforgettable experience. I met and was surrounded by so many creative and inspiring individuals. I took in every bit of the experience and observed all of my surroundings from the professional environment to the company culture and it was nothing short of just wonderful.
Now, let’s start the mini tour!!
p.s. I will be uploading a YT video of the office tour to accompany this blog post, so keep a look out for that, I hope you’re excited!
welcome, Step inside…
The Hobonichi Headquarters is located in Chiyoda City in Tokyo, Japan. It is one the of the most beautiful wards in Tokyo as it houses the Imperial Palace and it is known for being the political and financial center of Japan. It is such a quiet and very cultural-rich neighborhood that’s famous for Japanese curry!
the entrance is submarine vibes
The Honbonichi headquarters is located in
The Hobonichi Headquarters office entrance is the COOLEST entrance I have ever seen and experienced. You walk in and are transported to a modern and minimal yet super creative entrance, it’s like you literally stepped into a submarine from the street.
There is a video screen to the right and a glass submarine wheel that is used to open the door into the office. The video screen is your way see the front desk but in order to talk to them you have to speak into the periscope! I mean, how cool and unique is that?!
There is a gorgeous beige modern couch to the left serving as the main seating area. It’s so sincere and super aesthetic.
I made sure to grab a bunch of the freebies they have on the wall shelf/table. They have a variety of freebies, from stickers to Hobonichi pamphlets about other services and products offered to
reception heaven
The reception area of the Hobonichi office is a literal dream. The latest Hobonichi release is displayed right at the front. You’re able to look through and touch all the products.
Techo, Mother, & a PET FISH?!
When you turn to your left, you get giddy as you become surrounded by MOTHER collectibles lined along and of course, the Hobonichi Globe! There was even a GIGANTIC Mr. Saturn in the main meeting area (I didn’t take a pic since I wanted to be as respectful as possible and not to interrupt others in the office) hehe but I just had to tell you about it!
Also, on the same floor is the Hobonichi office’s pet pufferfish! I’m sure you didn’t know that that we had a pet fish in the office? Did ya?! AND that the fish and his aquarium is livestreamed 24/7?! Yup! You can check it out here: https://www.1101.com/otama/index.html
the themes were theme-ing
I didn’t take as many pictures of all the other cool things I saw and experienced since I was trying to be respectful of others BUT I can tell you about them!
There is a floor where are the videos and photography are produced. It was so cool to see a live photoshoot going on that was about the Hobonichi curry!
Each meeting room had a really cool theme!
One of the floors had a giant gorgeous painting of tomatoes-on-the-wine hanging on a wall that was painting with mauve/light-pink colored dots.
The roof of the building had an amazing outdoor grass area where members of the team planted vegetables so for the summer they could host events with farm-to-table food.
The office had a really cool kitchen where you can eat and try a lot of the Hobonichi produced foods! I bought in some classic American themed chocolates by Snickers and Reese’s as well as Cap’n Crunch cereal to the office so people in the office could try!
If you’re ever around the office, make sure to check out the famous coffee shop called GLITCH. It’s probably the most amazing coffee I’ve ever tasted, you can literally taste all the notes of the bean!
Here is a pictures of one of our colleagues, Mizuho, and I heading back upstairs for a meeting after grabbing our coffees!
I cannot even begin to put into words in this blog post just how amazing the entire visit was and to top it all off we went out for dinner at a local Yakiniku (which is Japanese BBQ!) spot recommended by THE Itoi-San the night before I flew back home to NYC and we all had so much fun and ate amazing food! I’m so grateful for the team for making me feel soo welcome, being the best colleagues, and just giving me this opportunity that has forever changed my life. I was so sad to leave them! I miss them so much already! 🥹
